In Pics: Pat Cummins gives SRH dream start with first-ball wicket of Karun Nair

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got off to best possible start to the IPL 2025 game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday night. Skipper Pat Cummins opened the bowling for his side on Monday and began with a wicket in the very first ball of the game. Cummins bowled the perfect line and got the ball to seam away from Karun Nair.

The veteran batter poked at the ball and got a thick edge that carried forward to Ishan Kishan who was doing the wicketkeeping duties. Karun Nair, just put his head down as he walked back to the hut for a golden duck. In the six games before this encounter, Nair had scored 154 runs with a best of 89 that came in the game against Mumbai Indians. 

This is also the second time this season that Nair failed to get off the mark. The previous occasions was against Kolkata Knight Riders where the veteran batter was run-out after facing just three balls. This will be huge cause of concern for Nair after his tall run-scoring feats in the past few months that had put him on the fringes of national selection. 

Dream start for SRH in must win IPL 2025 game

Pat Cummins won the toss to a huge round of cheers and chose to bowl first. Before the game began, SRH were ninth in the table with six points from ten games and need to win all their four games to keep their hopes alive. Cummins gave away just three runs in the opening over of the game. Delhi Capitals’ batters found the going tough as Cummins was seen breathing fire with the ball. 

Delhi Capitals who are fifth in the points table also needs to win the game to keep their hopes alive. T Natarajan is playing his first game of the season as the 34-year-old former SRH pacer comes in for Mukesh Kumar. Loss on Monday will mean that DC will put more pressure on Axar Patel’s men with handful of games left.
