Senuran Muthuswamy confirmed that he's of Indian heritage, although it's more to do with those who migrated generations before to South Africa. The South African All-rounder confirmed that his ancestors were from the Indian state, Tamil Nadu. Muthuswamy said that his mother and aunt visit Tamil Nadu often to meet their relatives.
"Of course, I'm of Indian heritage, but that was quite a few generations ago. So, my roots are in the south, in Tamil Nadu, and my mum and my aunt have been to visit our extended family on that end of India. I haven't been there as yet," Muthuswamy said in the press conference after Day 2 of Guwahati Test 2025.

"I'm just really grateful for the opportunity to be in India," - Senuran Muthuswamy
Given his performance in the match, Senuran noted the transformation he went through, especially after not performing well in the Indian tour in 2019. Muthuswamy claimed that he performed well in the South African domestic cricket and improved himself to be back on track to be a better version of himself.

"Yeah, it's fantastic, especially having come through to India in 2019, and we lost the series pretty badly. So, yeah, I've gone back to domestic cricket and I've managed to work my way back into the national set-up and I'm just really grateful for the opportunity to be in India and to put in a performance like that," Muthuswamy added.
