‘I’ll show you who I am’ – Ravichandran Ashwin backs Virat Kohli to come good during Super 8 stages for India

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t had the greatest of times with the bat during the ongoing T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old has managed to score just five runs from the three matches he has player so far. There are constant questions regarding the decision to ask Virat Kohli to open the batting. 

Veteran Indian star Ravichandran Ashwin has backed the former Indian skipper to regain his form with the bat. The 37-year-old was speaking on his YouTube channel when he came out in support of Virat Kohli. 

Ravichandran Ashwin while speaking on his YouTube channel said “There is no chance for a player like Virat Kohli to damage his confidence”.  Ashwin has spent more than a decade sharing the dressing room with Virat Kohli and has seen the right-handed batter destroy the best of bowling attacks. 

‘That’s how he will bat’ – Ravichandran Ashwin supports Virat Kohli to find form

With five runs from 3 matches the pressure is high on Virat Kohli to come good with the bat. Ravichandran Ashwin while speaking on his YouTube Channel went onto say “He will say, 'you brought me down to number 3, I will show you who I am.'. That's how he will bat, first of all. I am saying this because I know him” 

The former Indian skipper was the best batter of IPL 2024 with nearly 750 runs during the season. Yashasvi Jaiswal who was included in the team for the T20 World Cup has been benched for most of the games in favor of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli batting combine. 

Former Indian opener Robin Uthappa too spoke about Virat Kohli and said “Virat Kohli's physiology, after the previous match, I saw a glimpse of it. Maybe five seconds. Him interacting with some of the players and talking to the support staff”

The veteran former India star also said “When you see his physiology, you can tell that man is exuding supreme confidence. And that comes from a place of knowing about his own game and the confidence in his own ability. So, he knows that this is just a blip in the radar”
