India vs Pakistan rivalry is something the entire cricketing fraternity; the last time both teams faced each other in a bilateral series was almost 11-12 years back in the 2012-2013 session when Pakistan toured India for the white-ball series. Apart from that, speaking of the Test format, it’s been over 16 years since both teams played against each other in the longest format of the game.

In that series, India defeated the visitors by a margin of 1-0 in the three-match Test series, with a win in the Delhi Test. Since then, the toughness in the political relations between both countries made it very difficult for both the cricket boards to play a bilateral series against each other.

Meanwhile, the current Pakistan skipper Shan Masood has spoken his heart out about the possibilities and his interest in playing a bilateral Test series against India.

“My greatest memory has been playing India in the 2022 T20 World Cup at the MCG – it was around 94,000 people and that was surreal,” said Shan Masood in an interview with Wisden Cricket Monthly.

“If we have a Test Match in Pakistan or India, even the Ahmedabad ground, or we play in Pakistan or a neutral venue, I reckon an India vs Pakistan match could sell out any venue in the world. It’d be great,” he added later while speaking about the Test cricket between India and Pakistan.

I would love for India vs Pakistan to happen - Shan Masood

Furthermore, Pakistan’s Test captain also spoke about the importance of the bilateral clash against the best teams like India for Pakistan.

“You want to play the best teams in the world and India is certainly one of the best, especially when it comes to Test cricket. We just saw a very exciting India versus England series. I would love for that (India v Pakistan) to happen. It’d be a great honour to lead Pakistan against India,” said Masood.
