WTC 2023-25 Update: Pakistan face loss in points table after Sri Lanka's 2-0 Test Series win against Bangladesh

India and Australia are currently on the top two spots of the points table of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle of 2023-25.

Sri Lanka got a big benefit from the 2-0 clean sweep they achieved in the recently concluded two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The Islanders earned 12 points after the victory in the second Test match of the series against the hosts Bangladesh. With that win, Dhananjay de Silva’s men surpassed Pakistan, who had 22 points earlier.

After winning the second Test, Sri Lanka have now 24 points in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table and reached the fourth spot in the standings; on the other hand, Shan Masood-led Pakistan have slipped to the fifth spot in the points table of the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

Speaking of the other teams in the points table, Rohit Sharma’s India are currently at the top spot with 6 wins in the 9 Tests, including 2 defeats and one drawn Test match in the current cycle of the Test Championship. Following India, Pat Cummins-led defending World Test Champions, Australia are in the second spot with 8 wins, 3 defeats and 1 drawn Test in the 12 matches they have played so far in the competition.

The inaugural World Test Champions New Zealand are at the third spot of the points table of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle 2023-2025.
