In a recent piece of news, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the official schedule for the warm-up matches for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, in the USA and West Indies starting next month. The warm-up games for the marquee international tournament will commence on May 27 to conclude on June 1.
However, the news coming out from this announcement is that the highly followed Team India has given only one warm-up game; the men in blue will play their warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1, 2024, in the USA, the venue for India’s match is yet to be decided by the organizers.
Meanwhile, England and Pakistan have no warm-up game as both teams will take on each other in the four-match T20I series, starting next week on May 22. The dates of England vs Pakistan T20I series clash with the dates of the T20 World Cup’s warm-up games.
“Warm-up fixtures will be 20 overs per side and will not carry international T20 status as teams will be allowed to field all members of their 15-player squad. In a change from the previous rights cycle, teams will now have the option of playing up to two warm-up matches depending on arrival time at the event,” reads the official statement of ICC through a media release.
