Australian cricket star Travis Head has begun his mind games with India ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The left-handed batter was recently in conversation with Star Sports India. When asked if India were his favourite opponent, the Aussie batter declined the notion.

Travis Head replied to Star Sports India, “I don't feel like they're my favourite. I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I've been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it's always nice.”

According to various reports, Travis Head is likely to open the batting during the 5-match series against India. The move is to help Steve Smith to go back to the number 4 spot with the Aussie batting star not clicking as an opener.

Travis Head makes huge statement about India

During the course of his chat with Star Sports India, the Aussie batter Travis Head also said, “It's not hard to get up for the contest. It's hugely competitive. Yeah, it's easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn't say they're my favourites."

“They're extremely difficult but it's been nice to play well in a couple of games and looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go and...hope hopefully I can contribute to what's a successful summer for us," further added Travis Head.

Currently Travis Head is with the Australian team in England playing the T20I series. The final game of the series is to be played on Sunday with the score line locked at 1-1. The left-handed batter was named the captain of the side for the 2nd game after regular skipper Mitchell Marsh was injured.

India and Australia will play five Test matches starting on 22nd of November with the first game in Perth. Pat Cummins and side haven’t been able to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy since the took the title in 2014/15 with a 2-0 series win. Incidentally that was the last ever series for MS Dhoni as a test player and skipper.

Virat Kohli then took over as the captain of the side for the next 7 years. This is also the first the first time Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side to a tour of Australia with massive WTC points at stake.
