Latest cricket sensation Ashutosh Sharma stole the headlines with his knock during the fourth game of Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Monday. The 26-year-old scored 66 not out for Delhi Capitals (DC) in a close win over Lucknow Super Giants. Last year, the right-handed batter was with Punjab Kings where he had a breakout season along with Shashank Singh.

During his chat with PTI last year, Ashutosh said that he was on the brink of depression. The real reason behind this was that he was forced out of the Madhya Pradesh side and wasn’t given too many chances. The young batter didn’t name the coach that was behind this and had poured his heart out regarding the ordeal.

Ashutosh Sharma during his chat with PTI had said, “There was a time when I wasn't even allowed to get a feel of the cricket ground.” The statement came to light after the young batter then aged 25 had scored an unbeaten 31 which came off just 17 balls against Gujarat Titans.

Young Ashutosh Sharma the latest unknown commodity set to make it big?

During his chat with PTI, the young batter went onto add, “I had three fifties in six Mushtaq Ali games in the previous season yet I wouldn't even be allowed to go to the ground. I was very depressed.” After this, Ashutosh moved to the Railways where he achieved fame and was soon selected for the IPL after his 11-ball half century.

Speaking to the news outlet the young batter revealed his entire ordeal and said, “I would go to the gym and retire to my hotel room. I was sinking into depression and no one told me what my fault was. A new coach had joined Madhya Pradesh and he had strong likes and dislikes and despite scoring 90 odd in 45 balls in a trial match, I was dropped from the team.”

Young Ashutosh then found fame when he became a Punjab Kings’ team member and made his debut as an impact player. The batter scored an impressive 61 in the game against Mumbai Indians last year and nearly pulled off a win. His biggest moment was hitting Jasprit Bumrah for a huge six that not only announced his arrival but also showed his class. On Monday, the 26-year-old showed his calm approach as he scored 66 not out from 31 balls and guided Delhi to close one-wicket win.
