When the question of who is the fittest cricketer in the Indian team comes up, perhaps the first name that comes to mind is Virat Kohli. However, for India's bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, Kohli is not the one. Surprisingly, he claimed himself as the fittest player in the whole team.

Former India captain Kohli is regarded as one of the fittest cricketers to ever play the game. He has maintained his fitness level since the early days of his career and has been a major reason behind his success. It was during his captaincy that Team India introduced the Yo-Yo Test to increase the fitness level of players.

Even at the age of 35, Kohli is giving tough competition to the younger players in the team. He is lightning-quick when running between the wickets and his fielding prowess is also a great asset to the team.

I will always take a fast bowler's name: Bumrah

During a recent event, Bumrah was asked “who is the fittest of all in the Indian team”. While many expected Kohli to be named, the right-arm pacer gave a shocking response by choosing himself. The 30-year-old was quick to reason that being a fast bowler in Indian conditions is not easy.

"I know the answer that you are searching for but I would like to say my name because I am a fast bowler. I have been playing for a while, so you know, being a fast bowler and playing in this country in the heat takes a lot of requirements. So, I will always promote fast bowlers and I will always take a fast bowler's name," Bumrah said at the event.

Both Kohli and Bumrah will be seen together during India’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. The two-match series will start on September 19 in Chennai. Notably, Bumrah is on the verge of scripting history. He needs just three wickets to become the 10th bowler to take 400-plus wickets for India.
