India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is set to be back in action in the longer format as he has been selected in the squad for the 1st Test against Bangladesh. The match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19. However, BCCI have removed him from the vice-captaincy role and no one has been assigned the role.

Talking about Bumrah, he was last appeared in a Test match back in March 2024 against England at Dharamsala. However, he didn’t have a great outing in the match as he left the match with only 2 wickets. He failed to take a single wicket in the first innings but managed to take two in the 2nd innings.

Later, he took part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and delivered some magnificent performances. After that, he led the Indian bowling line-up in the T20 World Cup 2024 and helped India to win an ICC trophy after a gap of 11 years. He played a crucial role in India’s winning the final match by helping the team make a comeback when they were on the verge of losing the match.

Bumrah came back in the 16th over and conceded only 4 runs. He then came to bowl the 18th over and conceded only 2 runs while also taking a crucial wicket of Marco Jansen. However, after that match, he hasn’t been in action for a long time due to the workload management.

Now, as Bumrah is set to back in the longer format, the fans are thrilled to see him back in action. This 2-match Test series against Bangladesh will help him to get back in rhythm before the New Zealand and Australia Test series. Bumrah’s presence is also important for the Indian team to make their qualification chances stronger for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final.
