In what seems to be a piece of massive news for the CSK fans, especially the ardent MS Dhoni fans, CSK skipper and legendary wicketkeeper-batter came up with a huge statement while speaking about the possibilities of him playing in the remainder of the tournament. Dhoni’s statement has also left the fans in speculations about the question of his appearances in the tournament’s next edition.

It all happened when the toss presenter Danny Morrison, threw a question towards Dhoni about the chances of him playing in the next edition of the Indian Premier League next year in 2026.

"One of the things is the pride factor" – MS Dhoni

“Look at the reception. Does this mean you're coming back next year as well?” asked the broadcaster, Danny Morrison, to CSK skipper MS Dhoni at the time of the toss before the CSK vs PBKS game.

“I don't know I'm coming to the next game (laughs). One of the things is the pride factor. The majority of the games you play are at home. Home advantage is very important, which we haven't been able to capitalise on. Same team. We've been on the side where we don't make a lot of changes. But this season we've made a lot of changes. The reason is simple,” replied Dhoni to Morrison’s question.

“If most of your players are doing well, then you chop and change 1-2 players. But this season it hasn't worked for us. It's also the first season after a fresh auction. So, you have something in mind, but you have to see where a batter is suited better,” he added later.

Notably, MS Dhoni’s CSK have been through a miserable run of form in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). They are currently struggling in the 10th spot on the tournament’s points table, with only two wins and seven defeats in their nine games so far. They are coming off 4 defeats and only one win in their last five games.

The five-time IPL champions have struggled to find a form this season since the start of the tournament as they have lacked a consistency in their form in the tournament.
