Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under the captaincy of the five-time IPL winner-captain, MS Dhoni, are going through a dismal run of form in the ongoing IPL 2025. They are struggling in the 10th spot on the tournament standings, with only two wins and seven defeats in their nine games so far.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has also been in a below-par average batting form in the tournament’s current season. He has scored only 140 runs in nine games, with a below-par batting average of 28.00. Notably, the 43-year-old is playing in the capacity of an uncapped player for CSK in this season.
Meanwhile, the former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist came up with his blunt opinion while speaking about the possibilities of MS Dhoni featuring in the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
"He has nothing more to prove" - Adam Gilchrist on MS Dhoni
Gilchrist feels that there is nothing left that Dhoni needs to achieve or prove to someone in the game of cricket.
“He (MS Dhoni) has nothing more to prove to anyone in the game. He has achieved everything that there is. MS… well, he’ll know what he wants to do, but I’m saying, for the future – it’s going to cost me this, I know but perhaps he doesn’t need to be there next year. I love you, MS. You are a champion, an icon,” said Gilchrist on Cricbuzz.
Furthermore, the former Aussie great also opined that the franchise should invest their trust in the star spin-allrounder Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin for at least one more edition of the tournament.
“What a talent! Yeah, ageing but I still see a rockstar as Shane Warne dubbed him way back at the start of IPL. I am just going to go with him one more time,” he added.
Speaking of CSK, they are set to face PBKS in the next match of their campaign in the ongoing IPL 2025. The game is going to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, April 30.
