India were the first team to win the T20 World Cup in the inaugural edition in 2007. They beat arch-rivals Pakistan by five runs in a thrilling final in Johannesburg, South Africa. However, since then, the Men in Blue have not been able to win the elusive title in the shorter format despite putting in remarkable performances in almost every edition.
The Asian giants have reached the business end of the tournament multiple times but never managed to cross the knockout hurdle. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, they have once again entered the semi-finals - in the T20 World Cup 2024 - and it remains to be seen if they can end their trophy drought this time.
