Former legendary Australia opener and current commentator Matthew Hayden came up with a big statement while speaking about the former India skipper, MS Dhoni. Notably, Hayden had also played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in the first three editions of the Indian Premier League from 2008 to 2011.

The former Aussie Southpaw was also a part of the CSK squad that lifted the IPL trophy for the first time in 2010 after Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers won the first two editions, respectively.

"Dhoni is exactly what I was saying before" - Matthew Hayden about MS Dhoni

Coming back to Hayden’s recent statement about Dhoni, he levied the praises on his former CSK skipper for being humble and never mentioning or talking about his greatness himself. The legendary batter of his era also said that Dhoni can captain Australia any day and he could also be there comfortably in the Aussie dressing room.

“Dhoni is exactly what I was saying before. He can easily sit in an Australian dressing room and easily captain it because he believes that he is not bigger than anyone else. He'll collect bags, he'll throw cricket balls. He's just a very humble individual. And he works hard at the team and not on promoting MS Dhoni,” said Hayden to Sports Vikatan.

“You'll never hear him telling people how great he is or what he's achieved. That is MS Dhoni's X-factor. You look at Australia and go '25 million people. How did they win the World Cup against us?' MS Dhoni... he just finds a way to galvanise people together and does it in a way that is nothing about ego, not about self-promotion,” he added later.

Dhoni was recently in action for CSK in the Indian Premier League 2024 which concluded last month. The yellow outfits were eliminated from the league stage of the tournament after a 27-run defeat against RCB. Talking about Hayden, he was active in his commentary stint with the official IPL broadcaster Star Sports.
