Young Delhi Capitals opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has been through a miserable run of form with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2025. He has failed to live up to expectations in the tournament so far. While opening the innings for DC, the Aussie star has scored only 55 runs in six innings with a horrific batting average of 9.16 and a poor batting strike rate of 105.76.

There have been a lot of questions from the cricket experts around his place in the DC playing XI despite a string of low scores continuing from one match to another.

In the same line of events, the Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has come up with strong support for the young opener amidst his lean patch.

“We believe that he is a match-winner” – Hemang Badani on Jake Fraser-McGurk

Meanwhile, Badani also asserted that he will continue with Fraser-McGurk in the opening slot by giving him the chances he needs.

“He (Fraser-McGurk) is someone who gives us massive starts and someone who we believe is a match-winner. Yes, the numbers this year haven't been his best compared to last year, but we, as a side, believe that he is likely to be a player who can always come good for us at any given time,” said Badani while backing Fraser-McGurk.

“It (Fraser-McGurk's presence in the XI) also gives us the freedom to keep having him in the side because of our position at the moment with five wins in six games; it just gives us the cushion to have someone like him in the XI and if he fires it's happy days for us,” he added later.

Following this, he also spoke about the question of Faf Du Plessis not being a part of the playing XI for the last few matches.

“I genuinely cannot give you anything with regards to team mix up, whether he (Du Plessis) is ready or not, we will have to wait and see tomorrow,” he said.
