Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has never shied away from showing his admiration for Virat Kohli and his batting. The former India skipper scored 100 not out against Pakistan to not only score his 51st ODI ton but also help India qualify for the semi-finals of Champions Trophy.
Amir was recently in conversation with the noted Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta on Sports Tak. The 32-year-old lavished praises on Kohli, revealing the admiration of India’s former skipper gets from fans across the world. Many fans in Pakistan were seen celebrating after the 36-year-old scored his century last Sunday in Dubai.
The former Pakistan pacer said, “Why do people love Ronaldo? Why do they love Messi? If I talk about Ronaldo, especially, look at his lifestyle. Look at his charity work, his work ethic, and his fitness. He is a complete package. Likewise, Virat Kohli is a complete package."
‘Should follow Kohli’s footsteps’ – Mohammad Amir
During the course of his chat with Vikrant Gupta, the former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir also said, “Why is he a role model for many, even in Pakistan? The country doesn't matter. Whether he is from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, or England-a role model can be from anywhere. For this generation, Virat Kohli is an inspiration. All those youngsters who want to be cricketers, who want to be batters, should follow Virat Kohli's footsteps."
India’s former skipper has been known for his dedication his craft and his complete work ethic. Amir suggested that many budding cricketets should follow this and make Kohli a role model. The 32-year-old gave an example of Kohli turning up for nets 90 minutes ahead of the key match against Pakistan last Sunday.
“Virat Kohli is a player for whom age doesn't matter. His work ethic doesn't change depending on his form. He came 90 minutes before for training on the eve of the India vs Pakistan match. Virat Kohli has lived the best life. He might play two or more years in international cricket. But his work ethic is still top-notch. There's no doubting his ability and work ethics” said Amir.
