Dubai Capitals beat Desert Vipers in the finals of the 2025 ILT20 match on Sunday. The game was played with competitive spirit and turned out to be a thriller. Former Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir hogged the headlines for mocking Gulbadin Naib during the game. Naib was out for just five runs as he was LBW to Amir in the chase.

Amir had mocked Naib by doing his bicep flex celebration and stared at the batter aggressively as he was making his way off the field. During his chat with Hindustan Times after the game, Naib hit back at Amir and said that Amir’s act didn’t sit down well with him.

The veteran Afghan star said, “I always say it is a gentleman's game. You should respect each other. If you don't show respect, no one will respect you either. He knows how much respect he got by doing this act. As a cricketer, as a human being, you should respect everyone.”

The veteran Afghan star during his chat with Hindustan Times also said, “The Capitals franchise is a big franchise. They support all sports. Be it cricket, kabaddi and other sports. They are involved big time in cricket. This franchise respects players, they know the value of sport. I am lucky to be associated with this franchise.”

Afghanistan is set to make their ICC Champions Trophy debut in a few weeks. Hasmatullah Shahdi and his men are in the same group as Australia, South Africa, and England. It is to be noted that Afghanistan have beaten England in the 2023 World Cup and recently had a series win against South Africa. The Afghans beat Australia during the 2024 T20 World Cup and came close to a huge win during the 2023 ODI World Cup game.

Speaking about the upcoming tournament while speaking to Hindustan Times, Naib said, “We love this game. We are very passionate about the sport. Our fans who support us a lot, they are there with us in both good and bad times. We look to give every 100 per cent in each game. If we play good cricket, we will definitely win."
