“Sir, garden ki yaad aayegi, (sir, will you miss the garden),” asked a fan, referring to India’s former Test skipper, Rohit Sharma. After listening to this, Pant got emotional and replied, “garden ki toh yaad aayegi bhai (surely, garden will be missed bro).”

Rishabh Pant will have a bigger responsibility on the upcoming tour of England, as he is a part of the leadership group in the role of vice-captain. The 27-year-old has a brilliant Test career so far for India; he is known for his aggressive approach in red-ball cricket. Pant has scored 2948 runs in 75 innings of the 43 Tests he has played. He has scored these runs with an amazing batting average of 42.11, hitting six centuries and 15 half-centuries.

A big Test awaits the young Indian Team

Notably, it will be a major transition phase in Indian Test cricket, as a completely young team led by the young skipper Shubman Gill travels to England. It is going to be the youngest Indian Test team on an England tour in the last two decades.

The first Test of the five-match series will be played at Headingley in Leeds from June 20 to June 24, followed by the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, starting from July 2 to July 6.

Here’s a look at the India squad for the England tour:

Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav.
