Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the only batter who displayed an intent to counter the Australian bowling attack amidst India’s collapse in the recently concluded Boxing Day Test. However, his dismissal on the final day of the game happened to divide the cricket experts and the former cricketers into two sects.

It all started when the TV umpire used the ‘naked eye’ visuals as the conclusive to overturn ground umpire Joel Wilson’s decision of not out while the snicko meter had no spark or movement of the ball’s contact with the gloves or the bat on the delivery bowled by Aussie skipper Pat Cummins

In the same line of events, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s childhood coach Jwala Singh was in an exclusive conversation with SportsInfo reporter Ashwin Chandrashekhar. In this conversation, Singh expressed his opinions about this controversial dismissal.

“I think if we are using technology then need to use it to the best or better to go with ground umpire. Also, if there is doubt the benefit should be given to the batter as per cricket law,” said Jwala Singh.

Furthermore, Singh was asked if he thought the decision was fair or not as the third umpire overturned the ground umpire’s decision just based on the vision from his naked human eyes.

“We need to respect the decision now, that’s what we can say now,” he said.

Besides Jaiswal's childhood coach Jwala Singh, former legendary Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar was also unhappy with the way the TV umpire overturned the ground umpire’s ‘not out’ decision.

“This can never be given out. If there is technology, one should use it. You cannot make a decision based on what you see and ignore the technology. There could be an optical illusion and we have seen it many times,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports during his Hindi Commentary stint.

“The ball that they are showing, which swung after passing the batter and going into the keeper’s gloves, could be because of late swing,” he added later.
