Despite suffering from pain and repeatedly hitting his fingers, Pant batted for India in both innings and even made 74 in the first innings. In the Post-Match conference after the Lord's Test, the Indian skipper Shubman Gill had promised Pant to be fine before the Manchester Test. There is an update from Ten Doeschate regarding Pant's availability at Old Trafford.

The Indian Assistant Coach confirmed that Pant will play the Manchester Test at least as a batter. However, he did not want to get Pant back in the wicketkeeping role yet. While Ten Doeschate hoped for a good recovery for his fingers ahead of the first training session, he hinted at Pant not keeping wickets, which could mean Jurel in the Playing XI.

"Hopefully he's good to go in Manchester in the first training session" - Ryan Ten Doeschate

"He will bat in Manchester. He batted with quite a lot of pain in the third Test, and it's only going to get easier and easier on his finger. Wicketkeeping is obviously the last part of the process to make sure that he can keep. We don’t want to go through that again, where we have to replace the keeper halfway through an innings," said Ryan Ten Doeschate.

"He rested today. We're trying to rest the fingers as long as possible, and hopefully he's good to go in Manchester in the first training session," Ryan Ten Doeschate added.
