Bangladesh and Pakistan face penalties for slow-over rate in the 1st Test match at Rawalpindi. It was a forgettable match for the hosts as they were fined 30% of match fees and penalized six WTC points, while Bangladesh was fined 15 percent of their match fee and penalized three WTC points for maintaining a slow over-rate.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time. In addition, as per Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, a side is penalised one point for each over short," imposed by Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates ICC Panel of Elite Match Referees.

After this, Pakistan's captain and Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh accepted their mistake and will bear the consequences. Interestingly, Bangladesh's all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was also fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct in the Rawalpindi Test. Shakib threw the ball in anger towards Mohammad Rizwan after the batter delayed his instance.

Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match."

A historic moment for Bangladesh after beating Pakistan in their own backyard

Meanwhile, Bangladesh created history by beating the Men in Green for the first time in Test cricket in their own backyard. It was an emotional moment for all the players and fans as going to Pakistan and beating them wasn't easy for them. Amidst the chaos back home, this win was extremely important to boost their mental health, and they have done it. Bangladesh won the game by 10 wickets.

Pakistan declared the innings but still failed to win the match, which must be absolutely embarrassing for them. Post the defeat, they have gotten some negative reviews from former cricketers about the team selection and the players not taking enough responsibility for themselves. Moreover, they still have one more game to get back their pride.
