The match between Namibia and Oman went down to the wire as Super Over came into play for the first time since the 2012 T20 World Cup. David Wiese the veteran star was the hero with the bat and also with the ball as his side posted their first win of the campaign.

Oman who were put into bat were bowled out for 109 as Ruben Trumpelmann picked four wickets. David Wiese had done his bit with the ball as he got 3 wickets which also included the top scorer Khalid Kail.

Mehran Khan was the best bowler for Oman as he took 3 wickets for 7 runs from his 3 overs to tie the game. Had Oman won the game this would have been the lowest total defended by any team in the history of the tournament.

Namibia come out on top in dramatic fashion

Needing just 110 runs to win the contest, Namibia lost the wicket of Michael Van Lingen for a duck bowled by Bilal Khan. Niko Davin and Jan Frylinck then added 42 runs for the second wicket before Davin was out for 24 to Oman skipper Aqib Ilyas.

Ayaan Khan then struck when he dismissed Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus for 13 to bring Oman back into the contest. Mehran Khan got the wicket of JJ Smit for 8 as his deceptive bowling had the Namibians in all sorts of problems.

Jan Frylinck who was the top scorer of the game fell for 45 runs in the first ball of the final over. The Namibian batter had scored his runs off 48 balls with the help of six hits to the fence.

Zane Green was out LBW when he tried to go for a paddle scoop and this made things interesting. With 2 runs needed off 1 ball, Naseem Khushi failed to grab the ball and also missed a run-out to take the match to the super over.

David Wiese came out to bat along with Gerhard Erasmus in the super over and hit the first ball for a four and the second for a huge six. Skipper Gerhard Erasmus hit two fours in the final two balls of the super over to take Namibia to 21 runs in the first super in T20 World Cup for over dozen years.

Tasked with chasing a mammoth 22 runs off 6 balls, Oman began with 2 runs off the first ball. David Wiese then bowled a dot ball and followed it up with the wicket of Naseem Khushi to send the Namibian fans into raptures. Despite a last ball six by Aqib Ilyas the Oman side couldn’t prevent Namibia from winning the game taking their first points of the campaign.
