The hosts West Indies locked horns with Papua New Guinea in the second match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The rain-affected match was played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, June 2. However, the Caribbeans won the match by a margin of 5 wickets but the fans witnessed an amazing fight from the minnows like ‘PNG’ while defending a low total of 136 runs.

WI skipper Rovman Powell won the toss and asked PNG to bat first; batting first, PNG’s Sese Bau scored a crucial half-century, scoring 50 runs off 43 balls, with 6 fours and a six followed by a knock of 27 runs off 18 balls by wicketkeeper-batter Kiplin Doriga on the back of these knocks, alongside some little contributions, PNG posted a total of 136 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs in the first innings.

The veteran all-rounder Andre Russell and star pacer Alzarri Joseph scalped 2 wickets each for WI in the first innings, alongside one wicket each picked by Akeal Hosein, Romario Shepherd, and Gudakesh Motie.
