Bangladesh scripted history as they won their first-ever Test match against Pakistan on Sunday. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the contributors with the ball as the pair picked 7 wickets between them. Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in their second innings with an overall lead of just 29 runs.

This loss will have a massive bearing on Pakistan’s chances to make it to the finals of the World Test championships. Bangladesh on the other hand, will be overjoyed with the fact that they have been able to post such a huge win.

After weeks of troubles back home due to the political unrest, the Bangladeshi side sent a huge statement to the cricketing world. The second Test will be played at the same venue with Pakistan needing a win to avoid a maiden series loss at home.

Pakistan's batting collapses against disciplined Bangladeshi side

Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood came out to bat for Pakistan on the final day of the first Test in Rawalpindi. Five runs were added to the overnight score before Pakistan lost Shan Masood caught by Litton Das off Shoriful Islam for 14.

Babar Azam came out to bat and was given a huge life on 0 as Litton Das dropped an easy catch. The former Pakistan skipper was then out for 22 as he was bowled by Nahid Rana to give Bangladesh a huge wicket.

Saud Shakeel who had scored 141 in the first innings was out stumped for a duck off Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh then struck twice in the space of three balls to send back Abdullah Shafique for 37 and Agha Salman for a golden duck.

Mohammad Rizwan tried to fight back with the bat as he scored 51 runs from just 80 balls with 6 hits to the fence. The veteran star had batted well in the first innings to score an unbeaten 171. Mehidy Hasan Miraz then bowled Rizwan for 51 and followed it up with the wicket of Mohammad Ali to end with figures of 4/21.

Chasing 30 to win, Bangladeshi batters began well as six runs came off the first over. With each run, the morale of the Pakistan team and its fans began to take a beating. Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan didn't break a sweat as the winning runs came in a canter to help the visiting side win by 10 wickets.
