Australian speedster Mitchell Starc was a recent guest on the Fanatics TV’s YouTube show. The 35-year-old had pulled out of the Australian squad just ahead of Champions Trophy 2025 that was eventually won by India. Starc, is set to play for Delhi Capitals in the coming season after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders last season.
During the course of his chat on the show, Starc accidentally revealed the name of Mr. Fix-It which had hogged the headlines during the recent Australian tour. The term Mr. Fix-it first came into use amidst the tour when Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was under the cloud.
Starc said “KL Rahul is like Mr. Fix-it for India. He has opened the batting when asked to, batted at Number 6, kept wickets, fielded, batted in middle order — he has done just about everything, he has played vital roles, excited to play alongside him,”. Rahul who was released by Lucknow was brought by Delhi for the coming season. The 32-year-old declined to lead the side and the captaincy was given to Axar Patel on Friday.
Mitchell Starc plays down talks of India having advantage in CT 2025
During the course of his chat in Fanatics TV’s YouTube Channel, Starc was asked if he felt India had an advantage playing in Dubai. Many critics had said that India won the tournament because they played in a single venue. Teams had to travel between Pakistan and Dubai since India didn’t want to travel across the border.
The Aussie seamer said “Not sure Indians have an advantage. Because the rest of us have opportunities to play franchise cricket all around the world, but the Indian guys can only play in the IPL. ure it’s the number 1 product in franchise cricket. IPL’s top notch and for 8-10 weeks you have high-class cricket, you get games every few days as a player”
“But I don’t think you can sit on that. Because there are guys who play for four or five different franchise leagues a year, so they’re still getting exposure to white ball cricket. Not surprised that India won. I'll be honest here, I did not watch a single ball. I'm not sure I watched much of the Champions Trophy at all. Just bits and pieces of the Aussie games” Starc also added on the Fanatics TV show.
Australian seamer also said “ I played with Chakaravarthy with KKR last season, he is a huge talent, an interesting bowler. Now whether they are the best white-ball team ever? The Indian fans will say yes, the Australian fans will probably say no”
