Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya played a key role in the Champions Trophy-winning squad. The 31-year-old was also part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and bowled the final over of the game. Pandya, who had a horror time in the IPL, finally found success with the bat and ball and has already won two global titles. India’s ace cricketer spoke to the ICC and revealed his feelings after the title win and outlined his future goals.

Pandya began by saying that the dream that wasn’t realised in 2017 had finally come true eight years late. The 31-year-old, in his chat with ICC, said, "In 2017, the work was left. You know I couldn’t finish the job back then. And I am very glad that tonight is the night where I can say that, you know what, I am a Champions Trophy winner as well. So sounds good, I think.”

Hardik was instrumental with the bat in the semi-finals and the finals of the tournament. The 31-year-old hit three sixes in the tense chase against Australia and hit few pivotal boundaries in the final clash of the campaign. With the ball as well, Pandya was at his best picking key wickets during the course of the tournament.

The next massive tournament for the Men in Blue will be the T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the current champions, India and Sri Lanka. India’s all-rounder has already set his sights on winning a few more titles with the national side before he hangs up his boots.

Pandya said, “For me, it has always been about winning as many championships as I can. I did say when we won in 2024 that this is not done. I still need 5-6 trophies more. I am very happy that one more is added. The most important thing in my life and cricketing journey has always been about how I can make sure that my team can win.”

“I love wins like this where everyone comes there, puts their heart out and you, I think this was for India; for Bharat, the Champions Trophy is done, next goal ICC T20 World Cup in India, lifting the cup," said Hardik Pandya.
