The retention lists of all ten teams are out and we have got a glimpse of what all the teams might be planning for going into the mega auction for IPL 2025. There have been surprising picks by the teams and we will now be looking into their remaining purses and what they could have planned for the auction.

The retention is just the first step of building the team and assuring a strong team to play in the upcoming tournament, The real action will take place in the mega auction where the final product will be set to go onto the field in the best T20 franchise league in the World. The core is already created going into this tournament but there are still a lot of decisions to be made by the franchises which we will discuss going further.

The remaining purses and RTM's of the franchises

If we take a look at all the teams it is the Punjab Kings(PBKS) who have the maximum purse of 110.5cr taking uncapped players in Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh and have 4 RTM cards as well. This could be one of the smartest moves by the underdog franchise who might be planning to build a new core and have all the resources to do that. The other team that has surprised us is Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB), who apart from Virat Kohli have retained the likes of Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal which leaves them with 83 cr and 3 RTM cards and have let go of some big stars. The lowest purse right now is with Rajasthan Royals(RR) [41cr] as they have put some big money on some players and have no RTMs left after retaining all 6 players.

Check out the list below-

Team Purse( Slots remaining) RTM's
PBKS - 110.5 Cr (16) PBKS - 4
RCB - 83 Cr (15) RCB - 3
DC - 73 Cr (14) DC - 2
GT - 69 Cr (13) GT - 1
LSG - 69 Cr (13) LSG - 1
CSK - 55 Cr (13) CSK - 1
KKR - 51 Cr (12) KKR - 0
MI - 45 Cr (13) MI - 1
SRH - 45 Cr (13) SRH - 1
RR - 41 Cr (12) RR - 0

If we look at all the squads right now it is PBKS and RCB who have the most resources and have planned well. The top teams like CSK and MI have once again retained a strong core despite having only 1 RTM remaining. Some teams like KKR and LSG have let go of some big players and have chosen to promote some new talent in the retention. SRH and GT also look strong with their core despite not having a lot of money.
