It seems like Rohit Sharma was just waiting for the conclusion of MI’s IPL 2024 campaign to blast over Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the ongoing 2024 edition of the tournament. Former MI skipper and the batting stalwart didn’t look happy with the broadcasting approach of Star Sports and blamed them for the ‘breach of privacy’.
Notably, just a few days back, a video went viral over social media in which Rohit Sharma was having a chat with Abhishek Nayar, his former teammate in domestic cricket. In this viral video, Rohit’s voice was quite audible amidst the fans’ noise and he was heard talking about leaving the Mumbai Indians and his experience with the franchise which led to win five IPL titles.
Now, after a lot of media buzz around that video and the n number of assumptions and discussions on Rohit Sharma’s future in the Indian Premier League, the man himself has expressed his displeasure and slammed Star Sports for ‘breaching the privacy’.
"It will one day break the trust" - Rohit Sharma about Star Sports airing his chat with Abhishek Nayar
He recently came up with a long post from his official X handle (formerly Twitter); in this X-post, Rohit also requested the fans and media to respect the privacy and personal life of the cricketers.
“The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days,” wrote Rohit Sharma in his X-post referring to the viral video of his chat with KKR’s assistant coach and his friend, Abhishek Nayar.
“Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focus only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket,” he added later in the post.
Here’s a look at the late X-posted shared by Rohit Sharma:
