The Indian Premier League has been the biggest T20 cricket tournament for a long time. Ever since its introduction in 2008, the league has only grown in stature, attracting millions of viewers every year while maintaining the hold each passing year. Since a majority of the best players in the world take part in the tournament, there's no competition for the IPL.

However, the brand value of the league has varied from time to time. The league has had its ups and downs due to various factors in different years. For instance, in 2016 and 2017, IPL's brand value was decreased due to CSK's absence. In 2019, the league's value was estimated at INR 47500 Cr, which reduced to INR 45800 Cr a year later due to pandemic.

After having an increase in its brand value in 2021, the league witnessed a huge spike in its brand value the following season. Two major factors played a role in it. IPL's brand value in 2024 witnessed a decrease for the first time since 2020. While there's nothing that points at a certain aspect that led to its decrease, the brand value of the league reduced in the 17th edition of the league. The league's brand value in 2021 was around INR 82700 Cr. It was the beginning of the decrease in the brand value of the league, which happened in the following season too.

2025: INR 76100 Cr

Much like the 2024 season, the 2025 season had a decrease in IPL's brand value. This was suprirsing considering the fact that a major team like RCB won its first-ever IPL title. The gaming bill was passed about two months after the conclusion of the league. Given the downward trend, the BCCI officials might want to find ways to have an increase in the brand value of the league.
