Sri Lankan bowlers jolted the Indian team early during the third T20I match on Tuesday. Sanju Samson failed to fire yet again as he was out for a duck for the second game in a row. The 29-year-old fell to Chamindu Wickramasinghe to give the Lankan pacer his maiden wicket in the T20I format.

In the last game, Samson was outbowled by Maheesh Theekshana for a golden duck. Many experts and fans were puzzled that Samson wasn’t given many chances and Rishabh Pant was slotted into the team right away.

The last big score for Sanju Samson was the fifty he scored in the fifth and final T20I versus Zimbabwe. With the latest failure, there will be even more pressure on Sanju Samson as new questions will be asked about his place in the team.

India loses four early wickets

Put into bat first, the Indian Cricket Team began by opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. The openers added 11 for the first wicket with Jaiswal hitting two fours and signalling his intent early.

Jaiswal went for a sweep shot missed the line of the ball and was given out LBW. The youngster went up and the third umpire found that there was no edge in the bat and the ball was hitting the stump.

Sanju Samson then tried to hit the ball over the point region as Wanindu Hasaranga took an easy catch. The 29-year-old had been given a chance to bat at number 3 position and yet again failed to grab the chance.

Rinku Singh was sent into bat at number 4 spot and got off the mark with a single. The 26-year-old then went for an ugly hoick across the line and Matheesha Pathirana took an easy catch. This gave Maheesh Theekshana his second wicket of the day as India had slumped to 14/3 in 3.1 overs.

Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav then came together as the captain and vice-captain duo tried to bring India back into the game. Sri Lanka picked their 4th wicket when Yadav tried to flick the ball for a six using his famous Supla Shot and Hasaranga got his second catch as Asitha Fernando picked his first wicket to leave India at 30/4 inside 6 overs.
