Amidst the standoff concerning Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board has been dealt a new blow. According to reports carried in the local newspaper Tribune, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected the ‘Fusion Model’ proposed by PCB.
The ‘fusion model’ proposed a Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025 as India wasn’t ready to tour across the border. One of the few demands put up by PCB was that Dubai will host every India vs Pakistan match for the next two years. India’s blind cricket team weren’t permitted to tour across the border by the government.
One PCB source, while speaking to Tribune newspaper, said, “We have presented a fair solution. If India does not accept it, they cannot expect us to send our team there in the future. If an ICC event is held in India, their team would also need to play finals or key matches in Dubai, ensuring parity.”
‘I feel sad that…’ Harbhajan Singh makes a huge statement on India not touring Pakistan
Former Indian star Harbhajan Singh has backed India’s stance of not touring across the border It has been 16 years since India toured Pakistan before political tensions ensured that the two sides don’t engage in regular bilateral action. Team India didn’t tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 with all of India’s games being held in Sri Lanka.
During his chat with Sports Tak, the former Indian star said, “The situation in Pakistan is not good. Every team is ready to play in that part of the world, but the problem is the situation over there. I am feeling sad for the people of Pakistan because they will not be able to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma batting on their soil.”
Harbhajan also added, “You can’t stop the tournament and a hybrid model is the only way forward. It is impossible for the Indian players to play in Pakistan because you cannot trust their security arrangements.”
Meanwhile, former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has urged the PCB to stick to their stand. Akmal said, “Pakistan will have to take a strong decision and stick to it. That will help Pakistan create a good image. On one hand, they don't want to play us in Pakistan on political issues but on the other hand, they play us in their country and that is a double standard."
