The next two seasons in 2026 and 2027 are also set to begin early with the season running longer. In 2026, the season is slated to begin on 15th March and the finals will be held on 31st May. The 2027 season is slated to begin on 14th March and the finals will be played on the 30th of May.

For the first time BCCI has come up with such a move where they have announced the dates for three seasons. This will also give clarity to cricket boards across the world to plan out their home series or away tours.

Jofra Archer back in the mix for IPL Auctions 2025

In a massive development ahead of the IPL Auctions on Sunday and Monday, England seamer Jofra Archer is back in the mix. The 29-year-old had pulled out of the auction and there were reports that it was due to workload management.

According to reports carried by ESPNCRICINFO doing the rounds, Archer and his agents had a word with England Cricket Board. As per the latest rules, if any player pulls out of the auctions barring any injury or other specified reasons, then his name wont be considered for the subsequent auctions.

Recently, England Cricket Board director Rob Key while speaking to English newspaper Independent made a huge point. Key was asked if Archer will Test cricket for England in 2025, to which Key replied, “Everything is going exactly to plan for Jofra, Can he play Tests next summer? With all my fingers crossed, yes."

So far, Archer has played for Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The last few years the right-arm pacer has been plagued with injuries. This has seen him missing out on a lot of cricketing action. Over 500 players will go under the hammer over two days of IPL Auctions 2025.
