Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan (Source-ICC)
Pakistani players are set to take part in the GT20 Canada league’s 2024 season after their early exit from the T20 World Cup. Vancouver Knights have roped in both Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam to make it a dream team.
The Vancouver franchise has named Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of the side. It will be one of the few times when Babar Azam would have played under the leadership of his good friend and teammate.

Taking to X the Vancouver team wrote “Hear ye, hear ye! The Vancouver Knights have chosen their captain for GT20 Season 4: Sir @iMRizwanPak! With his mighty batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, he’s ready to lead our charge to victory”
Shahid Afridi slams Babar Azam while praising Rohit Sharma
Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi has lashed out at Babar Azam for the way his team performed in the T20 World Cup. Shahid Afridi praised Rohit Sharma for his captaincy skills which led India to the title.
During his chat with PTI, Afridi said “Look, the role of a leader is always very important. The body language of the leader becomes the body language of the team. The leader has to set an example. Take Rohit Sharma as an example”
The former Pakistani skipper also said “Now, look at Rohit's game and his style of playing; the lower-order batsmen who come in are all confident because the captain likes to play aggressive and attacking cricket. So, I always believe that the role of the captain is very important”
Finally while speaking about what the future holds for Pakistani cricket, Afridi said “I don't know what the PCB chairman has in mind now and I am also waiting to see what changes will be made but I have always supported the team and will keep doing that. I am also waiting to see what these changes will be”
Stressing the need to make grassroots level cricket better, Afridi ended his chat with PTI by saying “A positive decision needs to be made, and the changes shouldn't just be superficial. The real issue lies at the grassroots level of our cricket. Our product is weak at the grassroots level, and if we invest there, good players will emerge”
