Hermann led the way with a classy 91-run knock, building a crucial 156-run opening stand with Lesego Senokwane in the second innings. His composed batting against a strong bowling attack featuring Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Kuldeep Yadav left Ashwin impressed.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ashwin wrote: “South Africa ‘A’ led by Jordan Herman are throwing in some punches on day 4 of the Unofficial Test chasing 417. He is batting on 90 against Siraj, Prasidh, Kuldeep and Akash Deep. Whatever happens today, Jordan Herman has made rapid strides in the South African cricket circles. He plays for the SR Eastern Cape in the SA 20.”
Apart from Hermann’s 91, Senokwane (77), Zubayr Hamza (77), Temba Bavuma (59), and Connor Esterhuizen (unbeaten 52) made valuable contributions to complete the historic chase at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground.

This was Hermann’s second fifty in the series. He had earlier scored 71 in the first innings of the opening unofficial Test. Across two matches, the 23-year-old scored 200 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 50.00. With this win, the two-match series ended at 1-1, Dhruv Jurel being named the Player of the Series for scoring 259 runs in two innings.
