Aryan Sharma, Yash Deshmukh named in Australia’s U19 squad for India series

• Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming men’s U19 series against India.
• Three 50-over matches and two four-day matches will be played from 21 September to 10 October.
• Two Indian-origin players have been included in the squad.

Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming men’s U19 series against India. The tour will include three 50-over matches and two four-day matches, to be held in Brisbane and Mackay from 21 September to 10 October.

This multi-format series will be a great chance for young Australian cricketers to gain valuable experience in both white-ball and red-ball formats.

Notably, two Indian-origin players, Aryan Sharma from Victoria and Yash Deshmukh from New South Wales, have been included in the squad.

The upcoming matches are part of Australia’s preparation for the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in January 2026 across Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The series will also mark a big moment for former Australian coach Tim Nielsen, who takes over as Head Coach of the national U19 squad.

Speaking about the squad and the significance of the series, Sonya Thompson, Cricket Australia’s Head of National Development, said: “We’re excited to continue our preparation for the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup cycle, with an exciting squad of emerging players. This series against India provides a valuable opportunity for our young players to experience international cricket in white-ball and red-ball formats, and to test themselves against a high-quality opponent.”

She added: “The multi-format tour is designed to challenge players to adapt and grow, while also giving selectors and coaches meaningful insights ahead of the National U19 Championships in December. His extensive international experience and leadership will be instrumental in guiding and inspiring Australia’s next generation of cricketers.”

In conclusion, she said: “Strengthening our pathway programs remains a key priority for Australian Cricket, and we’re committed to creating more opportunities for our most promising players to develop at domestic and international levels.”
