Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu fired a fresh indirect salvo at Virat Kohli. The 38-year-old was in conversation with Star Sports India ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

When asked to name his leading run-scorer for India, Ambati Rayudu didn’t bat an eyelid and named Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for the honor. Ambati Rayudu said, “The top run-getter from the Indian side, I feel, will be Rohit Sharma”

Ambati Rayudu has been in the news recently for his mild digs at Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Many Virat Kohli fans were incensed when the former CSK batter took a swipe at the RCB star over the teams’ inability to win the IPL.

Team India will begin their T20 World Cup with a warm-up game against Bangladesh. This is the only game for the men in blue and there is still uncertainty if Virat Kohli will be playing the game. The former India skipper has just left to join up with his teammates for the mega tournament.

India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign when they play Ireland on the 5th of June before their all-important clash against Pakistan on the 9th of June. The Indian skipper needs 37 runs more to become the third batter to aggregate 1000 runs in the T20 World Cup.

The next two matches for Team India are against co-host United States of America and Canada before the Super 8 stages can begin. One of the biggest questions ahead of the tournament has been the composition of the Indian team.

During a chat with ESPN CRICINFO, Rayudu was speaking about Shivam Dube’s likely batting spot. The former Indian star said "They are not fighting for the same spot. Dube is a batter is who bats at number four or five. Hardik and Jadeja are finishers for the Indian team.”

The former CSK star also said “He can hit boundaries and accelerate against the spinners when the conditions are slow. Dube doesn’t hit many runs between overs 16 and 20, his strike rate isn’t that high. I believe that Hardik and Jadeja can play that role for the team.”
