In a recent piece of news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A squad for the England tour. The team will play the three red-ball games ahead of the highly anticipated five-match Test series between India and England. A lot of youngsters and star players have been picked in the India A squad.
The star Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran has been appointed as a skipper, with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel being his deputy. Young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy are also a part of this squad as they are more likely to be picked up in India’s squad for the five Tests against England.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan to join squad after first game
Notably, the six players in the India A squad are those who were also a part of the Indian squad in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. These players are Harshit Rana, Akash Deep, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Meanwhile, BCCI also made it clear in their official press release that Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad before the second game.
Amidst all the known names, the Ranji Trophy sensation Harsh Dubey has also been selected in the India A squad. He attracted the eyeballs with his outstanding performances in India’s premium First-Class tournament, achieving a record of picking the highest number of wickets in a single Ranji Trophy edition.
