Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant was out for just three runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game versus Rajasthan Royals (RR). Pant, who is the costliest player in the history of the league, has struggled to get going with the bat so far this season. The 27-year-old had seemingly come back to form with a fifty in the last game against Chennai.

The incident in question happened in the fourth ball of over number eight. Pant attempted to play the reverse sweep and got a thick edge off his bat. Dhruv Jurel, who is keeping wickets for RR, nearly made a mess of the catch. The 24-year-old juggled the ball thrice and nearly spilt the chance. In the end, Jurel kept his composure to take the catch and help RR take the key wicket of Pant and also give Wanindu Hasaranga the breakthrough.

Riyan Parag wore a proud look on his face after his bowlers did a good job to restrict LSG’s power packed batting unit. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran have been the backbone of Lucknow’s batting failed to come up trumps with the bat for the first time this season.

Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni help LSG post decent total

Jofra Archer got the first wicket for RR when his short ball saw Mitchell Marsh play a loose shot. Shimron Hetmyer covered decent ground to take an neat catch to send Marsh on his way back for four runs. Sandeep Sharma then got the big wicket of Nicholas Pooran out LBW for 11 runs.

With the score reading 54 for three, Ayush Badoni came out to join Aiden Markram. The pair added 76 runs for the fourth wicket in 49 balls. Markram was the best batter for LSG with his knock of 66 runs which came off 45 balls with five boundaries and three sixes. Ayush Badoni played the perfect foil as he scored 50 off 34 balls with five boundaries and a six.

Abdul Samad gave LSG a fine finish to the innings as he scored 26 runs from five balls off Sandeep Sharma. The final over of the innings produced a total of 27 tuns that helped LSG reach 180 runs for the loss of five wickets from 20 balls.
