Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has expressed his concerns over Virat Kohli’s batting form. The 35-year-old had failed to get going during the three match ODI series and scored just 58 runs from the three games with a best of 24 which came in the first match of the tournament.

Aakash Chopra while talking on his YouTube channel said “Virat Kohli was LBW three times in three innings against spinners. I haven’t seen it before. He failed to read the line and wasted DRS. He wasn’t able to dominate the bowlers”

Virat Kohli had last played an ODI during the 2023 ODI World Cup. His last appearance for India was during the T20 World Cup before taking a break. The right-handed batter had scored match winning 76 to help India win the tournament.

Aakash Chopra slams Shreyas Iyer over his performances

Yet another player who was making his return to the Indian side was Shreyas Iyer. The 29-year-old had a tournament to forget as he scored just 38 runs from three matches despite being a good player of spin.

Aakash Chopra said, “Shreyas Iyer is a good player of spin bowling but even he was found wanting against the slow bowlers. I don’t know why our good batters struggled. I am not sure what is happening.”

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has slammed the way the Indian batter performed during the series. Basit Ali said “This series showed, I already knew, but people got to know that Jaiswal is a much better player than Shubman Gill. The selection committee has made a big blunder by not taking Yashasvi Jaiswal. They also didn't take Suryakumar Yadav. What are you doing? The Champions Trophy is coming after 5-6 months. You have just 3 matches left, or you have to play domestic cricket”

The former Pakistan star also said, “Jaiswal has no match with Gill, I'm telling this with experience. No doubt, Iyer has an average of 48 but Suryakumar Yadav is 1000 times better player. On spin-friendly tracks, you need players who can hit sweeps, and reverse sweeps. Suryakumar would've easily tackled all the spinners in the series, Jaiswal also tackles spinners well."
