England are in the process of rebuilding their white-ball teams after a disappointing ODI World Cup in 2023 and a sub-par T20 World Cup in 2024. They are also reeling from the departure of head coach Matthew Mott. England's next limited-overs assignment is against Australia in September and we can expect some new additions.
The Men in Yellow will tour England for a three-match T20I and five-match ODI series, starting September 11. The recently concluded The Hundred tournament, which saw the Oval Invincibles clinch the title, has offered some clues to the national team selectors on who to pick in the rebuilding process.

Here are 5 uncapped The Hundred players England might pick in the series against Australia
5. Jacob Bethell - Birmingham Phoenix
Jacob Bethell impressed everyone in the T20 Blast and has now continued his fine form in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix. Playing as a finisher, the 20-year-old smashed 166 runs in nine matches at an average of 33.20 and a strike rate of 132.80. His unbeaten 46 off 29 against Trent Rockets demonstrated his potential. Not to forget, he is an excellent fielder and can also chip in with some off-spin.

4. John Turner - Trent Rockets
John Turner is known for his scintillating pace. His campaign in The Hundred 2024 was a sign of what to expect from him in the future. The right-arm pacer grabbed five wickets in four matches at an economy of 7.73 with a best bowling figure of 3-24. He is only 23 years old and could replace veterans like Mark Wood in the future if trained properly.
3. Matthew Hurst - Manchester Originals
The Hundred 2024 was a breakthrough season for Matthew Hurst. The keeper-batter accumulated 149 runs for Manchester Originals in six matches at an average of 24.83 and a strike rate of 161.96. He scored the third-highest individual score of the tournament - 78 runs with seven fours and four sixes. England should at least take a look at the 20-year-old in the squad even if they don’t pick him to play.
2. Nathan Sowter - Oval Invincibles
Looking at England’s recent history, England has never been short of ‘Bazball’ batters. But they are heavily dependent on Adil Rashid and it will be hard to find a replacement for the top-class leg-spinner. In the 100-ball tournament, Nathan Sowter proved his mettle by taking seven wickets from nine matches at an economy rate of 7.14. If the management manages to groom the 31-year-old as soon as possible, Rashid's big shoes can be filled in the coming years.

1. Jordan Cox - Oval Invincibles
Jordan Cox's name has been floating around England's cricket circuit for some time now. Injuries to Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes earned him a maiden Test call and he is likely to make his debut in the series against Sri Lanka. For his immense talent, the 23-year-old deserves a place in all formats for England, and the recent Hundred tournament may have opened the door for him. Cox amassed 214 runs in seven matches at an average of 42.80 and a strike rate of 143.62.
