Two unbeaten teams in the tournament so far - India and South Africa - are set to face each other in the final. One will have to end their streak and the other will make history as no champion in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup has been able to stay unbeaten in the competition.

India and South Africa were table toppers of their respective groups in the group stage and Super 8 phase. The Men in Blue stormed into the final with a massive 68-run win over defending champions England, while the Proteas men thrashed Afghanistan by nine wickets to make their maiden appearance at a World Cup final.

Both teams have had tremendous campaigns so far and it will be interesting to see who comes out with flying colours in the ultimate encounter. Cricket fans around the world are in for a thrilling clash of two formidable units at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday (June 29).

Here are three reasons why India are most likely to win the T20 World Cup 2024:

3. South Africa lead in 'chokers' battle

Both the teams have managed to earn the tag of 'chokers' over the years, but South Africa undoubtedly deserves it better. While India have won five ICC trophies and have the experience of playing in several major finals, South Africa are set to play their first-ever summit clash. They always failed to clear the knockout barriers.

Also, looking at their run so far in this tournament, Aiden Markram and co. have registered a few narrow wins, including against smaller teams like Netherlands and Nepal. It will be a challenge for them to perform well against a powerful team like India in a high-intensity match.

2. Rohit Sharma’s mastermind

Rohit Sharma's captaincy will also be an advantage for India in the upcoming crucial match. He is one of the most successful captains in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, leading Mumbai Indians to glory five times. Although he failed to fully replicate his success at the international level, he was not far from brilliant.

Under his leadership, India have won two Asia Cups in the 2018 and 2023 editions. The veteran opener has led the Men in Blue to the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final and the 2023 ODI World Cup final. He now has one more ICC final under his belt, and he hopes to break the jinx this time.

1. A formidable bowling unit led by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav

A major share of India’s remarkable run so far in the tournament goes to their bowlers. Spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian pace and spin attack look solid. Although South Africa also have a strong bowling unit, Bumrah and Kuldeep's eight overs will be the difference between the two.

Bumrah is their trump card and the elite pacer is expected to continue his magics in the all-important final. He has bagged 13 wickets so far at an average of 8.15 and an impressive economy of 4.13. On the other hand, Kuldeep has taken 10 wickets in just four matches. Although Arshdeep Singh conceded a bit extra runs, he is currently the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 15 scalps.

Assistance from Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja have also been crucial factors. Notably, Axar was the Player of the Match in the semi-final against England. The left-arm orthodox bowler took three wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs.
