Inaugural champions India and first-time finalists South Africa are set to face each other in the summit clash of the T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams are in tremendous form in the run-up to the business end of the tournament and fans can expect a high-intensity battle at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday, June 29. 

India advanced to the final with a thumping 68-run win over the defending champions England. On the other hand, England thrashed Afghanistan by nine wickets to seal their berth in the ultimate clash. Notably, both the teams are unbeaten so far in the tournament one of them is going to script history as no team has ever managed to stay unbeaten in the entire competition.

What happens if the IND vs SA Final gets washed out?

According to AccuWeather, it is expected to be cloudy with 20 to 47 percent chance of precipitation during the playing hours.

If rain plays spoilsport in Barbados to interrupt a blockbuster final, the match can be completed using the additional time of 190 minutes. As per the tournament rules, a minimum of 10 overs has to be bowled to the side batting second (unless the result is achieved earlier) to determine the winner.

Is there a Reserve Day for the final?  

In case both teams do not get a chance to play at least 10 overs each on the scheduled match day, the contest will be moved to the reserve day. The extra day will be used to determine the champions on Sunday (June 30) but every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day itself.

It is noteworthy that if the match has started on the scheduled day and overs are reduced due to an interruption, but no further play is possible, the game will resume on the reserve day at the point where the last ball was played.

What happens if Reserve Day is also a washout?

If the weather does not permit a 10-over match on the Reserve Day as well, the teams will compete in a Super Over to determine the winner. If the Super Over is not possible, the match will be declared a No Result. In such a case, India and South Africa will be declared joint winners.
