San Antonio Spurs centre Zach Collins will undergo surgery for his torn labrum. The injury happened to him during the game against the Detroit Pistons. He will be back in action next season for the San Antonio Spurs. During the game's third quarter, he injured his right shoulder. On Thursday San Antonio Spurs revealed that an MRI was conducted and it showed that there was a labrum tear.

Zach Collins fouled James Wiseman when he attempted a jumper near to the rim, and he instantly felt discomfort and left the game. It's a huge blow for the big man, who has previously had catastrophic injuries that almost destroyed his career but has been relatively healthy since joining the San Antonio Spurs. Now he'll have to focus on recovering rather than improving his game throughout the offseason.

As per reports to fully recover, he will need five months. If he recovers in five months, he will be ready to play next season. Collins played 69 games, the second most in his six-year career, averaging 11.2 points and 5.4 rebounds. The Spurs finished 22-60 for the second consecutive season. Collins had an ankle injury that prevented him from playing in the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season.

The part-time starter played in the frontcourt with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama. In 2021, Collins joined San Antonio as a free agent. The 26-year-old has a career average of 8.3 points and 4.9 assists. Collins was the 10th overall pick from Gonzaga in 2017 and was traded to Portland on draft night.

Since entering in NBA Zach Collins will have his fifth surgery. In 2019, he underwent surgery to replace the labrum in his left shoulder, followed by three surgeries to correct a left ankle injury from September 2020 to June 2021. Collins looked to have overcome his injury problems since joining the Spurs. He played 69 games this season, his most since 77 as a Portland reserve in 2018-19.

Collins agreed to a two-year, $35 million agreement with the Spurs last summer, which would run through 2025-26.
