On Friday night, with just 0.9 seconds left in the game to end Denver Nuggets bottled their lead as San Antonio Spurs defeated Denver Nuggets by 121-120. San Antonio Spurs came behind from 23 points. For San Antonio Spurs Victor Wembanyama scored 34 points and 12 rebounds.

The Nuggets (56-25) lost their lead in the West and are now tied with Oklahoma City Thunders and Minnesota Timberwolves. Due to tiebreakers, the Thunder were first, the Timberwolves second, and the Nuggets third entering the last day of the regular season on Sunday. Denver Nuggets had won three consecutive games and was coming off a home victory over Minnesota.

According to AP News, Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone stated, “We controlled our own destiny and what we accomplished on Wednesday night, we just gave it right back. You know what I mean? So, it’s easy to get up for Minnesota. I mean, our guys were locked in, they were focused and were serious. And I don’t think we had the same approach for tonight’s game, but you had a chance to get to the one seed and now, obviously, we’ll likely be the three seed at the end of the day.”

Nikola Jokic's missed shot helped San Antonio Spurs win the game

For Denver Nuggets the charge was taken by Jamal Murray as he scored 35 points and his teammate Nikola Jokic scored 22 points and 12 rebounds. Denver Nuggets took the lead by 76-53 in the third quarter. Devonte Graham scored 11 points as he gave the San Antonio Spurs a lead with just 30.3 seconds left to end the game. Later with 9 seconds to go Devonte Graham made sure his team won as Nikola Jokic missed a shot.

For this game, the San Antonio Spurs were without Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham, Cedi Osman and Devin Vassell but still managed to win the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the fourth quarter.

Both teams play their next match on Sunday as San Antonio Spurs takes on Detroit Piston and Denver Nuggets faces Memphis Grizzlies.
