On Tuesday during the Las Vegas Aces game against Chicago Sky in the WNBA Kate Martin, a rookie of Las Vegas Aces was seen in pain during the game. In the first quarter of the match, Kate Martin fell hard against Chicago Sky defender Dana Evans.

The injury took place in the first quarter at 1:19 minutes left to end. She was bringing the ball down but lost her balance and fell hard on the floor holding her right leg. Meanwhile, as she fell Kate Martin was surrounded by her teammates and some of her teammates were using towels to hide her from the cameras. 

Later Kate Martin left the basketball court and didn’t come back for the game. It was reported that she injured her lower right leg. However, as she stood up, she looked much better and was back on the court for the second half wearing sweatpants and the team jersey. Although she was limping she got support and loud cheer from fans.

Chicago Sky beat Las Vegas Aces

For Chicago Sky Chennedy Carter was leading as she scored 34 points while her teammate A’ja Wilson scored 28 points, 5 blocks, 3 steals and 14 rebounds. Before the game, Kate Martin was averaging 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game. She had limited time so far but looks to be happy with it and agrees to the team rotation policy. 

The injury came in the first quarter in which Chicago Sky was leading by 25-12. By the fourth quarter, Las Vegas Aces tried to cut the gap but failed to do so as Chicago Sky put the end to their four-game winning streak as Chicago Sky won the game by 93-85.

Kate Martin was second-picked by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Before joining WNBA she had a good collegiate career at Lowa. She had an average of 13.1 points, 2.3 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game during 2023.24. In this season of the WNBA she has played 22 games for the team.
