Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, U.S. gymnastics sensation Simone Biles was present as Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark created history against the Connecticut Sun. In the first quarter of the game against Connecticut, Clark made her 86th three-pointer of the year, breaking the previous record for the most threes made by a rookie in the WNBA. The previous record, achieved in 2022 by Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard, was held by Howard.
As the most decorated gymnast in American history with 11 Olympic medals, Biles is no stranger to making history. During the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, she increased her medal count by four more, winning three golds in the vault, individual all-around, and team competitions.
In 2022, Rhyne Howard, an Atlanta Dream guard and fellow No. 1 choice, set the previous rookie record of 85 three-pointers. Caitlin Clark scored 19 points on 7 of 17 shots to seal the win. She was 2-for-2 from the foul line and 3-for-12 from behind the arc. In the win, she also had seven turnovers but added five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block.

Indiana Fever defeated Connecticut Sun
Indiana Fever defeated Connecticut Sun 84-80 on Wednesday night. Since July 3, 2021, Indiana has not defeated Connecticut. The Sun's three-game winning run came to an end, while the Fever (15-16) had won four of their last five since returning from the WNBA's Olympic break. Once the game was over, Biles and fellow Olympian Gabby Thomas got together with the team.
Before play on Wednesday, her stats were 18.0 points, 8.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on average. She had trouble shooting the ball well early in her career, but during her last ten games, she's shooting 44.4 percent. With a record of 14-16 and a No. 7 seed in the playoffs, Clark has helped the Fever challenge for a postseason berth.
