Paul George of the Philadelphia 76ers is out for Monday's preseason game against Atlanta due to a hyper-extended left knee. The amount of time George might miss after his injury was not immediately known. In the second quarter, George, a nine-time All-Star, suffered a knee injury during a defensive play. In a 104-89 triumph, he scored eight points in 12 minutes.

According to Nick Nurse, George, 34, will get an examination on Tuesday.  George appeared to have a knee injury in a video that was making the rounds on the internet, which was alarming. Last week, in a defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves, George had 23 points, six rebounds, and two assists in his lone other preseason game. He left Monday's game after scoring eight points in 12 minutes. Immediately, the nine-time All-Star collapsed to the ground, clearly in pain.

However, as per reports Paul George was said to be out of the game for the second half. The 6-foot-8 forward then sustained a hyperextended knee, according to the Sixers. More details on George's future condition should be released by the Sixers, probably including how much time he will miss due to this knee injury, if at all.

Joel Embiid ruled out for preseason

This summer, George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the 76ers as a free agency. He previously played for Indiana for seven years, Oklahoma City for two, and the Los Angeles Clippers for the last five. His average score throughout his first 14 NBA seasons was 20.8 points, and he was chosen to the All-NBA team six times. For the first time since 2018–19, George participated in more than 56 games last season, playing 76.

Joel Embiid, the center, was benched by the Sixers on Sunday for the remainder of the preseason due to what the team referred to as left knee management. The franchise has been cautious with its best players. Joel Embiid was placed on an individual treatment plan by the Sixers to address a persistent knee injury, preventing him from playing against the Hawks and has already ruled him out for the entire preseason. Meanwhile, both Paul George and Joel Embiid aren't expected to play 75 games in the regular season, according to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Philadelphia 76ers may decide to keep George off the court until the regular season with two preseason games left to give him enough time to heal from Monday's injury.
