Luke Doncic returned to his midseason trash-talking ways in just one week. With just over a minute remaining in Tuesday's game at Target Center in Minneapolis, Doncic's Dallas Mavericks led the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-109. Doncic retreated for a 35-footer that everyone in the building knew was coming in as the shot clock was coming to an end. Doncic instantly turned to face a Timberwolves fan seated courtside after making the basket.
Jaden McDaniels, a forward for the Timberwolves, struck the Mavs star from behind as he was sprinting to the rim, striking the back of his right knee. Luka Doncic just threw the ball for the turnover, indicating that he was injured. Grabbing his right leg by the back, he tried to support it with any weight.

Despite being able to score following a pass from Kyrie Irving, the Slovenian player was still in discomfort and eventually requested to be checked out before hobbling to the locker room. His first three-pointer of the day, after missing his first seven attempts, was the dagger over Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Kyrie Irving scored 16 of his 35 points in the third quarter, and Luka Doncic made a late comeback to end with 24 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
Anthony Edwards, who went 7 for 13 from 3-point range, scored 24 of his 37 points in the first quarter, setting a Target Center record. Additionally, he only made 6 out of 12 free throw attempts.
