During Tuesday night's New York Knicks preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets, Landry Shamet sustained a right shoulder injury. Shamet has a strong chance of earning rotational minutes this coming season because he has been playing effectively for the Knicks.
The action went on without a foul being called despite the 27-year-old guard hitting Diabate's hand and the ball. But Shamet clutched his right shoulder and struggled in pain. According to replays, he sustained a right shoulder injury and needed to be returned to the locker room for additional testing.

After playing with Washington Wizards the previous season, Landry Shamet inked an Exhibit 9 contract with the New York Knicks this offseason. In Washington, Shamet shot 33.8% from three-point range and averaged 7.1 points. For a Knicks club with little depth, he was expected to earn a possible roster place. However, given how bad his injury seems, the Knicks, who have been plagued by injury problems since the previous season, are in yet another precarious position. Mitchell Robinson is still recuperating from offseason ankle surgery, so he won't be ready to start the regular season.
Landry Shamet to have operation for his injury
New York Knicks' postseason performance was hindered by injuries, thus head coach Tom Thibodeau was forced to start small players in the frontcourt. Whether New York will grant Shamet a roster place in spite of his injuries will be intriguing to see. Since joining the NBA in 2018, the Wichita State graduate has represented five different clubs. He has played for the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Washington Wizards.
After Landry Shamet sustained a right shoulder injury against the Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks supporters were understandably concerned. U.S. Ski & Snowboard team physician Dr. Eric Friedman believes Shamet has a dislocated shoulder and will require surgery to fix the torn labrum. Additionally, Friedman conjectured that Shamet might not be included on the Knicks roster as a result.
