On Thursday night, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers ultimately secured their first victory of the preseason. This was demonstrated at the Fiserv Forum in Wisconsin, where they defeated Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks 107-102.

LeBron James finished with 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, six rebounds, three assists, and two threes in his meager 16 minutes of action. After missing the previous game, Giannis Antetokounmpo made his preseason debut and immediately set the tone for the evening. Although both teams were expected to play at a high level, the audience was not prepared for the incredible scene that was about to happen. The Greek Freak, who is renowned for his defensive skills, showed everyone why he has won two MVP awards.

In the opening round of play, LeBron James, in usual form, drove to the hoop for what appeared to be a simple layup. Giannis had other ideas. When Giannis Antetokounmpo moved up to meet LeBron near the rim, he made an incredible block that sent the ball flying with incredible timing and quickness. Social media went wild almost instantly after the block, with fans and commentators alike praising the show of defensive mastery and a video of the block became viral.

Giannis Antetokounmpo getting ready for upcoming NBA season

The Lakers star's shooting night was forgettable, and Giannis Antetokounmpo's incredible chase-down block was responsible for one of his missed baskets. Giannis demonstrated his domination in just 20 minutes of action, ending with 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a perfect 10-for-18 shooting percentage from the field. Though his block on LeBron may have taken center stage, Giannis' whole performance made it very evident that he is prepared for the NBA season.

Not only are other teams traveling far in the 2024 preseason, but some of them have even flown abroad. The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets, the last two NBA champions, will play two exhibition games in Abu Dhabi.
